So the only real limit is how much time you have to repeat this process, since transfers take some time.

I wonder why the credit card companies are complaining about new regulations that they think will destroy their profitability and then go ahead and offer mucho miles as signup bonuses. The latest is Chase, which offers 50,000 United miles for signing up after spending $250 (no annual fee for the first yer). To get this deal, you need to call 800-421-4655 and then:

1. Choose "manage my account"
2. Enter your mileage plus number and zip
3. Say "more options"
4. Say "apply for a United Mileage Plus card"
5. Tell the rep you're applying for the 50K mile offer.

United Airlines sale on award travel

Redeem your United mileage for award travel in the next week and a half, and you'll give up 20% fewer miles for those hard-to-find seats.  Don't worry about United's notorious Starnet blocking (where they tell customers seats on Star Alliance flights are available even though they are), because this promotion applies only to United flights.  It's true they bumped up the mileage requirements just recently, but some rates are the lowest in several years (especially Hawaii!)
