Great week to pick up a MacBook Air

BestBuy has cut prices on the current generation of MacBook Airs by $100 across the board. For those of you with .EDU email addresses, you can register for an additional $150 off MacBooks or iMacs. This doesn't include the 5% off you can earn through shopping via a cashback portal and additional savings from the BestBuy Rewards program. So at the end of it all, you can buy the basic 11.6" MacBook Air for $650 and get back $32.50 from a cashback portal and up to another $32.50 in rewards, dropping the net price (before taxes!) to $585! This is the lowest price I've ever seen for a current generation MacBook Air.

Great savings on MacBook Airs

Apple recently updated the processor on its MacBook Air line of ultraportable notebooks to speed them up by 0.1 Ghz. Everything else remains the same if I am not mistaken. You can buy the now obsolete line of laptops from Best Buy at a discount, and then combine that with Best Buy's ongoing $150 off for students and teachers (or anyone with a .EDU email address). This is a perfect intersection of good deals for this line of laptops that features Haswell, Intel's latest power-sipping processors that offer great battery life.  9to5Toys has the details on the best deals, including a new 13" MacBook Air for $705 and the new 11.6" MacBook Air for $610. Get 'em while they're hot!

iTunes gift card 20% off

Today Best Buy is selling 20% off a $100 iTunes gift card, shipped free.  The 20% discount is usually as good as it gets as a top line discount from retailers, although sometimes you can combine 20% off with category bonuses from Chase Freedom or Twitter/Facebook credit card promos from Amex.  Shop through a cashback site like Discover's ShopDiscover for another 5% off or so and join Best Buy's Reward Zone for another 2% back.  The only better deal is from Staples, when they discount their iTunes cards and then let you use coupons at the risk of being banned as a customer.
