Predicting Amazon price movements

It used to be that you didn't have to worry much about finding the right price when buying at Amazon, because you could use their now-expired pricing policy that would refund you the difference for any price cuts within 30 days.  Now that prices tend to gyrate like the stock market, you're better off knowing where the price has been before you buy something at Amazon.  There's two pretty good sites for this:

  • Camelcamelcamel: Okay, they are not the best brand consultants, but it's a very useful site that has price history for the most popular items.  You can even sign up to RSS feeds of products that you're looking to buy, and you'll know when Amazon drops its price, though this information is not instantaneous.

  • Ama-zone: Also a good site with good price graphs.  Fewer features than Camel, but all the prices are plotted on 1 chart, which makes for better comparisons.
