$665 of airfare with Citi credit card sign-up

(expires July 15)

Citibank offers 50,000 Thank You points for signing up for their Citi ThankYou Premier credit card.  While I value ThankYou points at a slight discount to 1 cent per point, this credit card has the key benefit of increasing the value of ThankYou points by 33% when you book airfare at the ThankYou.com website, which has airfares comparable to sites such as Expedia.  So the 50,000 point bonus you will earn after spending $2000 on the card will get you back $665 worth of air travel.  ThankYou points do expire after 3 years, though you can redeem them for $500 worth of gift cards at places such as Best Buy, Home Depot, and others.  The annual fee is $125, though, so factor that into your ROI calculations.

hi rob,
how does this compare to the chase/southwest card? with 50k points too?

I find this a better deal, because you can use the airfare on any airline (or hotel), not just Southwest. And what most people don't factor in is the miles you earn on the flight you buy with ThankYou points, which might be another 10K+ miles.
