100,000 American Airlines AAdvantage miles with credit card sign-up

(was supposed to expire October 31, 2010 but links still work and 100K and 75K bonuses still being awarded)

I wrote about Citibank's crazy 75,000 mile offer a month or two ago, but I wanted to call attention to the 100,000 mile offer too.  Both offers have no annual fee for the first year, so depending on whether you are a big spender ($10,000 in the first 12 months) or a moderate spender ($1,500 in the first 6 months), you can choose the offer that's best.

For the 100,000 mile offer, you will get bonus 50,000 miles after the first $750 in spending and 50,000 bonus miles after you hit $10,000 in spending.  So you will get 25,000 + 8,500 = 33,500 miles for the incremental $8,500 in spend, which works out to about 3.9 miles per dollar -- that's a pretty good offer by almost any measure.

Assuming you have good credit, you can sign up for 2 cards (1 personal, 1 business card) and double up on your bonus, but if you sign up for just one, I'd recommend the consumer card, which has protections covered by the financial regulation.  If you have been a credit card churner (signing up for the cards then canceling them a month later after you received your bonus), you could be out of luck. Accounts on forums suggest that you need to be a (relatively) new customer (i.e. no card for 2 years).

Here are links to the 100,000 mile offers (links to the 75,000 mile offer here):
