(expires July 31)
It's the most reward credit card offer I've seen from American Express. Get 60,000 Starwood Starpoints (30,000 per card) for opening up the Starwood Preferred Guest American Express card and spending $1,000 within 3 months for opening the Consumer and Business versions of the same card. If you already have a Starwood Amex, not to worry, and you can open one of each (if opening a business card, you can just use your name as your business). The $45 annual fee is waived for the first year.
The 30,000 Starpoints can be used a number of ways. At the very least, it's worth about 35,000 airline miles. The better option is to use it for hotels, including free nights (no blackouts) or better yet, use points to discount your stay with cash & points awards. The application links are below:
Up to 20 free nights (60,000 Starpoints) as credit card signup bonus

Thank! Rob, so are you saying that we need to sign up for both, then we get 60,000 (30k each) then we would have to pay 45x2 (90) each year after the the first year? and also spend 2k within 3 months?
-waibun
Yes, that's right. And if you are a couple, you can get 120,000 points (2 cards each, spending 4k within 3 months). There are some alternative deals for using Starpoints, such redeeming them 1 for 2 points at LanChile, then you can use those miles for lots of free trips.
oh crap, I just opened up a regular starwood preferred card . how many points does that mean I get? i don't think I can spend 2K in three months...I mean, I CAN, but I just can't pay it off.
I signed up for the AmEx cashback rewards business card last year but I think I'm going to shut it down in favor of this one...
I think the regular offer is for 10,000 points after your first purchase. You can try buying cash equivalents with your card. For example, I recently opened a $30,000 CD with a credit card with my British Airways credit card. I earned 37,500 miles plus a free companion pass. The best way to spend $1,000 easily is to buy coins from the US mint and deposit them into your bank account.
