Amazon sells the OCZ Apex 120GB solid state drive (SSD) for only $184. SSDs use very fast flash memory chips instead of slower magnetic platters to store data. Most stores sell this for over $250. This drive has been discontinued but has good performance characteristics. SSD prices are falling fast, but you will not find a cheaper price for a mid-range drive, which is perhaps the cheapest way to make your computer really zoom along.
