Update: Continental is now also offering double elite miles.
Both United Airlines and American Airlines are offering double elite qualifying miles for flights completed before June 15. You'll need to register online before you fly in order to qualify. For American Airlines, you'll need to enter code DBEQM on their website. Elite status isn't what it used to be, but at least you'll be able to avoid paying $15 or so to check a bag.
