Miles/points (Amex Starwood card is especially good for this -- you earn points worth about 2 cents each but you only pay about 0.5 cents).  With Starwood, you can earn about 10,000 points per person, which is good for a hotel room worth about $250 (depending on where you redeem), and you will only pay $60.


2. Nearly free travelers cheques for your upcoming vacation (since you usually get better exchange rates on travelers cheques than on cash).
