Amazon is now selling the Canon SD1100IS for $220 in all colors, about a $20 price drop from 2 weeks ago. I bought mine when it first came out (and got my price adjusted down), and I'm very happy with it. Just last week, Canon announced 2 more new PowerShot models:
- SD770IS (~$50 more than SD1100)
- SD790IS (~$100 more thand SD1100)
- 10 megapixels
- 3x zoom
- Image stabilization
- About the same size as SD1100 (SD770 is smaller)
- 2.5" screen on SD770, 3.0" screen on SD790
- Slightly wider lens than SD1100 (35-105mm vs. 38-118mm on SD1100)
- Available in silver and black only
For these new models, you'll need to wait until May. I think the SD1100 is a better value. The main difference is the 10 megapixels vs. 8 megapixels and a $50-100 price difference. A 10 megapixel camera will eat up your memory card (and hard disk) pretty quickly.
Update (3/18): Price raised to $231.
